Clean HP Laser Printer

Usually when you or other HP laser printer users see specks then you might think about cleaning the laserjet or you may wish to have done the maintenance earlier. I hear you think: "What must I do now?"

Well, according to what HP indicates, specks might appear on a page after a jam has been cleared.
You should print a few more pages to see if the problem corrects itself.
If you experience that specks occur frequently, you might set the printer up to automatically run a cleaning page, (see below).

To clean the inside of the laserjet you should read the introduce guide on the product CD, or go to www.hp.com/cposupport/ and run a manual cleaning page to clean the fuser, (see below).
Then try using a different type of paper.
And do check for print cartridge leaks. If the toner cartridge is leaking, replace it.

Cleaning page:
The following information is based on using the printer cleaning page with a HP Laserjet 9000.
If you want to ensure good print quality with certain types of paper, use the cleaning page every time the print cartridge is replaced. If it appears that you have to use the cleaning page frequently, then try a different type of paper.
When you see toner specks on the front or back side of your print jobs, follow the procedure below.

From the printer control panel:
- select Config Device and press V.
- select Print Quality and press V.
- select Create Cleaning Page and press V.
- When toner has been cleaned from inside the printer, you will see shiny black spots on the page black strip. If white spots appear on the black strip, print another cleaning page.
In order for the cleaning page to work properly, be sure to print the cleaning page on copier grade paper (not bond or rough paper).
